Easter weekend was a great weekend to plant trees and do a little farm yard maintenance this year. We were able to plant 50 Engelmann Spruce and 150+ Silver Buffaloberry (Shepherdia argentea) bushes, set three gates and board up some broken windows in the barn. After three days of sun it looks like we have a week of rain ahead, should be great for the trees. 🙂 Hopefully in a few years the trees will be big enough to give the pheasants some food and places to hide.
This past April we planted about 500 Russian Olive trees. It was a grueling 2 days of work! Lots of sun, trees, digging & watering. Hopefully the trees will root well and make it. Give it 10+ years and the pheasants should have some great additional habitat.
Big thanks to Krist & Ron for helping us!
