Chocolate Lab Dock Jump

I think Scud has a future in dock jumping if pheasant hunting doesn’t work out for him. 😉

Montana Pheasant Hunting – Opening Weekend 2013

Pheasant Hunting Eastern Montana

Pheasant Hunting Montana 2013

Well it was another beautiful pheasant opening weekend in Eastern Montana. The cool weather really helped the dogs track and not overheat. Just one bird short of our two-day limit wasn’t too bad.  Most of the birds we harvested were fairly mature. Most other hunters seemed to have quite a few younger birds in their possession and this could be contributed to the release of many farmed pheasants in the area. Here are a few pictures from over the weekend:

It’s that time of year again!

With the cold air coming I feel the urge to get out of the office and into the field! Looks like a lot of the pheasant chicks didn’t make it in the Conrad area. I think a few hail storms were the biggest culprit. Hopefully enough birds lived to make it a good pheasant season. I drew a cow elk permit this year. Super excited to fill up the freezer!

Happy hunting to you in your neck of the woods!

Pheasants & Chuckars

Made it out for a great day of bird hunting at Rooster Ridge Pheasant Club with my father-in-law. Thanks George & Duke!

Chinese Ringneck Pheasant Hunting

A few pictures of the great time I had over in Eastern Montana pheasant hunting.  I’m not sure there are a lot of birds this year as we really had to hunt hard to get our limit! Top that with most of the young birds get shot the first week or two and that makes for lots of walking for the rest of the season.

Spawn of Duke :)

My father-in-law and I went hunting at the Rooster Ridge Pheasant Club with Duke & Scout the other weekend. Duke is a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon and Scout is his and Tish’s (German Wirehair) puppy. Scout is turning out to be one heck of a retriever, especially for only being 14 weeks old!
